Marcus, God has blessed us all when He led you Home to the Catholic Church! Thank you for answering His call! A comment about "owning" land. I have grown up on a farm and have farmed for all of my adult life. It has been a great place to have a family but there has been plenty of stress that has come along with farming. One of my main farming goals has been to be able to "own" the family farm and have it paid for by time I retire. A great deal of that stress has been relieved since I have been focusing on the fact that I am a steward of this land and God is the owner. Just a reminder that we must put God first in our lives and everything else will fall into order.

How can we know what's true? It's what my husband has been struggling with being a Baptist who is married to a Catholic. He attends Mass with me every Sunday and loves it but struggles with so much of the Catholic faith. And I have struggled to explain. We are both learning together. I was somehow led to this post (I have never read your blog). Amazing isn't it how God leads the way? I will share it with him and will return for more. Thank you. +: )

Hi Marcus,

I enjoyed and will re-read your reflections again about Sirach. My favorite biblical passage is Sirach 2. I have made it my own personal prayer and reflection about my life and following the Lord. Sadly, I was speaking to my non-denominational friend about this strong "manly" verse but his bible did not have Sirach. Do you know why this is? What is it that propted Luther to have this book removed from the protestant version of scripture?

Dear Marcus,
"Stumbled across your blog this evening (8-5-12); Encouraged by the green, and the godly thoughts and instruction. Kristina the cow must be a sweet thing, to allow her stall and manger for use to portray the birth of Christ Jesus. Hope to find my way back here sometime soon; I don't often go too far on the EWTN website. Was looking for Mass readings, did not find them tonight. Will look again. Thanks for your ministry.

This is the first time I've seen this... it is lovely and so heart-warming. I can hardly wait to send the link to my friends.
I never miss your "Coming Home" program and I always call friends to tell them to tune in and who the guest is.
I am on my way back to my Catholic Faith and you have helped
me along my journey.

Thank you Marcus... for your devotion to the "Faith."

Blessings... j

Just wanted to let you know that my husband (Arthur) just thinks the world of you. I suppose that sounds too feminine... He thinks you are a warrior for Christ.... there, that's better. We are so moved by your programs on EWTN both television and radio. What a great ministry for the Lord--both with your terrific guests and your own brilliant comments! You have helped us greatly as new converts to the faith. (And we needed lots, coming from the Seventh-day Adventist Church!) God bless you! And enjoy that farm!

Very nice to be reminded of these things. It is easy to get caught up in the soup sometimes. Thanks for your thoughts!

I love the farm pictures. How beautifully the Psalms connect with all of our lives...even if we have to stretch our imaginations a bit. I particularly like the young lion.

That was very interesting and I have to say, I made the same comparison myself over a year ago when picking raspberries. I concluded that like life, one has to reach further, through perhaps more pain in order to achieve the real goal, that luscious and big berry dangling about the large briars. And if one is not careful, is too greedy and fills his hands to much with the fruits, one or more is likely to fall down under the bushes from your grasp, unattainable now. Patience, will to do well and complete work, and appreciation for everything you have that is provided should be key elements in how one truly learns something about themselves and life.

Just about anyone who would read this article has his own imaginary dialogue between himself and you. You and he are sitting together in a tv studio, the tv studio of The Journey Home, in fact. He says something along these lines, "Well, Marcus, I had gone to Mass and as we were saying the Creed, I suddenly realized that these people really believe in the resurrection of the body." Anyway, that is how part of my imaginary dialogue between myself goes.
